Ceramic painting is a simple and enjoyable way to spend time with your loved ones. You'll choose a pre-fired white piece (a mug, plate, bowl, or other item available in the studio) and paint it with colourful glazes just the way you like.

The best part: everyone ends up with a neat, beautiful piece! Unlike hand-building with clay, where you shape the item yourself, here the base is already made — you simply get to decorate it. It's much easier than sculpting, and perfect for even the youngest artists.

You'll be shown a selection of patterns (or bring your own) and a handy way to transfer them onto your piece, along with the basics of working with glazes.

Please allow 4 weeks for glazing and kiln firing of your ceramic pieces - after which your pieces will be ready for collection! You than have max 4 weeks to collect your items. We are unable to store them for longer.

Create Together – Learn Together – Make Memories in Clay

Join us for a fun and creative handbuilding pottery workshop designed especially for kids 3+ and their parents! This is a perfect opportunity to bond, explore your artistic side, and learn the magic of working with clay—no experience needed.

Choose Your Experience:

• One-Time Session – €39 per person In this relaxed, beginner-friendly class, you’ll create and paint your own unique plate, bowl, or other simple project. A great way to try pottery and take home a handmade memory!

• Two-Session Workshop – €65 per person Dive deeper into the world of pottery! In the first session, you'll design and build a more detailed piece. In the second, return to paint it using our beautiful studio glazes. This immersive option gives you a fuller experience of the pottery-making process—from clay to finished piece.

• Kids aged 7+ can attend on their own — you’re welcome to drop them off and pick them up after the workshop. Please note: We don’t have space in the studio for waiting. If you'd like to participate, you'll need to book a seat for yourself as well.

• Kids under 7 must be accompanied by an adult. You can book 1 seat to work together on a shared project or book 2 seats if you'd each like to create your own.

All ceramic works require kiln firing and you'll receive it within 4 weeks after the workshop.

Beginners level - no experience needed! Perfect for families looking to try something new together!

ArtStart offers a unique opportunity for children to experience the art of pottery through our wheel throwing taster sessions in Haarlem!

This workshop is for kids/teens aged 9-16, but parents can join too! You will learn the basics of throwing clay on the wheel and will have the opportunity to decorate and paint your piece.

Each participant has their own wheel and will receive instructions and demonstrations of throwing on a potter's wheel.

How will this workshop be run? In the first part of the workshop our experienced teacher will demonstrate a simple step-by-step guide on how to approach the pottery wheel and support you in creating your first ever ceramic pot. Afterwards, you will move to the table where you will be shown how to add textures and decorate your pot with coloured slip.

Choose Your Experience:

• One-Time 1,5 hour Session – €49 per person. In this relaxed, beginner-friendly class, you’ll create and paint simply your own unique bowl.

• Two-Session Workshop – €75 per person. Create something complete. In the first session you throw your piece on the wheel — one cup with a handle, two bowls, or a decorated bowl. In the second session you return to glaze it using our studio glazes. You leave with a finished, fired piece that went through every stage: wheel, drying, bisque firing, glazing, glaze firing.

• Kids aged 9+ can attend on their own — you’re welcome to drop them off and pick them up after the workshop. Please note: We don’t have space in the studio for waiting. If you'd like to participate, you'll need to book a seat for yourself as well.

You will make 1 or 2 (depending on the chosen workshop) fully finished piece and receive it within 4 weeks after the workshop since it requires firing and glazing. Beginners level - no experience needed!

Join us for a delightful pottery Christmas ornaments workshop!

Create 4-6 ceramic ornaments with your own hands to take home and decorate your Christmas tree or use them as gifts.

Here’s how it works:

• We give you clay!
• You pick the shape you want (think snowman, snowflake, Christmas tree, wreath, angel, etc.)
• Add texture, text, or stamps.
• Give it some color! We’ll also provide “underglazes” (think paint for clay!)

Done!

This workshop is great for both adults and kids. Children under 7 are required to be accompanied with an adult.

Your finished creations will then be glazed and fired, ready for collection within 2-4 weeks, just in time for the Holidays.

Get into the festive mood and create your own personalised Christmas baubles to hang on the tree.

Here’s how it works.

• You receive 2 pre-made ceramic baubles;
• You pick the design you want and paint it;

Done!

All materials will be provided and extra baubles will be available to purchase (€10 per extra bauble) on the day if you wish to decorate more. A festive lemonade and cookies will be included with your ticket.

This workshop is great for both adults and kids 5+. Children under 7 are required to be accompanied with an adult with tickets purchased for each member in the party.

Your finished creations will then be glazed and fired, ready for collection within 2-4 weeks, just in time for the Holidays.
